What accessories will i need for a rescue cat?
I am planning on getting a rescue cat soon. What accessories will I get and what accessories will I need to buy and how much will the total cost?

1. All you need is a food dish.
2. First off get it the right provisions: food bowl, water bowl, food, litter tray.
You can pick these up quite cheap from petstores or supermarkets.
Try getting some katnip toys but what you really need is a LOT OF LOVE and PATIENCE!
3. I think you would need a collar with a little bell (so the birds can hear her approaching and fly off before they get eaten)
A water dish, a bed, a scratching post, a litter tray and some kitty toys. You will get it all in a pet shop.
Thanks!
:o)
4. Something to sharpen his claws on instead of furniture. The cardboard ones are fine. Figure less than $10.00--just get the refills--don't bother with the base and save the money
5. litter tray, toys, and a cat bed. thats about it. but depending on the cat you get you might need a little more. they will probably tell you when you get the cat.
keep it in for a while so it can get used to you and your home. close the windows and doors. and let it get used to one perticular room befor you send it venturing through out your house!
oh and 2 bowls, and some food. (cats love milk but it's real bad for them, gives them diorrea, try water first)
6. rescue cats cost a fortune ,they need ropes to abseil with
a liitle fire engine to put fires out with, little safety helmets a helicopter maybe to save drowning sailors
7. Congratulations on your new adoptee, and thanks for rescuing!
bowls for food and water
litter box
unscented scoopable litter
one or more scratching posts or pads
a box for hiding/playing in (can be just cardboard box from the grocery)
A couple of toys; make one interactive like a "fishing pole" that you can both play with.
a brush suitable for the cat's coat length.
8. Get a scratch pad so she doesn't tear up your furniture or carpet. Also, cats usually like the toys with a stringy thing tied to a stick.
9. Food and water bowl, litter box, litter, scoup For the litter, food, coller with tag, and some cat toys from the store.
I have found out cats love to play in brown paper bags and string =]
10. Litter box, food and water dish, food, and some small toys. A card board box for a bed, with a small old towel or t-shirt.
Each state is different on what they give you. You may get a starter pack with food. I would call and ask your shelter.
Cost of cat plus $25-$40.
11. an ID tag with a breakaway collar. I recommend keeping your cat indoors for its own safety but ID tags are always good to have, just in case. Also a pet carrier for when you transport your pet to and from appointments. I found a pet carrier at Pet Supplies Plus for under $11 so you do not need to spend a fortune. ID tags can also be purchased at local pet stores. I recommend getting one engraved because ink smears with time and then can't be read, making it pointless. Don't forget to animal proof your home - lock up anything poisonous such as cleaners...etc. Yarn can be eaten and cause death if it gets wrapped around its insides. A nice place for kitty to sleep. These are my ideas.
12. Who are you rescuing the cat from? Is it a humane society? If so they could answer some of your questions and might even give you a small amount of food or other special needs this cat might have. Of course, food & water bowls, a cat litter box, some toys, if it still has claws a scratching post, some place that can be all her own, a box with a blanket, a laundry basket with a blanket, toys, etc. , a pet pillow, somewhere she can claim as her own. Vet would be the best for the rest of your answers after the animal has been checked out. And it also depends on whether you are going to let this cat live inside all the time, in & out or totally outside.
13. The cat needs to have:
- A Food/Water dish
- A litter box
Some extras:
A Collar*
A toy or two
* Will your cat be going outside? If so, you may want to be careful about the collar, as thy could get caught in bushes and up trees.
Hope this helps! Enjoy your new cat! I have 5 of them....
14. Litterbox
Litter
Scooper
Cat Food - Dry and Wet
Water bowl
Food bowl
Cat Toys
You can buy a litter pan kit that sometimes will have the food bowl and scooper included. They are a little cheaper them buying them separately. (approx $5-10) I would buy a separate water bowl though.
Litter - buy the scoop able kind. Much easier to deal with - Tidy Cat is my favorite. 35 lb tub cost around $11-12 on sale.
When you pick up the cat ask what kind of food they have been feeding the cat and purchase the same food. If you want to change the food to something different you will need to mix the 2 foods together so you don't have tummy upset or diarrhea to deal with.
Water and food bowls - if you want to keep some of your immediate costs down use some bowls or dishes you already have. I use the saucers when I feed my cats can food.
Toys - Cost can be from anywhere to 99 cents to several dollars. Invest in a couple of balls for the cat to bat around. You can improvise and use a wad of paper, string, paperbag, box etc.
Congrats on your new cats and thank you for adopting a rescue cat.
15. Food bowl, food, water bowl, litter tray, litter. Old carboard box as a hidey-hole, as already mentioned. That's about it apart from patience, love & affection. Do make sure he/she's had the inoculations and has been "seen to" if old enough.
From a "maintenance" point of view, keep the litter tray scrupulously clean and moggy will instinctively know what to do with it. Make sure the food bowl doesn't have old stale food in it and rinse out very well to remove the smell of washing-up liquid, also keep fresh water in the water dish. The cat may not seem to drink much, that's quite normal, but don't give cows' milk, it's bad for the feline plumbing.
You'll probably find that all the toys you acquire are ignored in favour of a screwed up lump of paper tossed across the floor to be chased and pounced on! Ours have always loved a twist of paper on the end of a piece of string so you can drag it to and fro across the floor . . .
Well done for taking on a rescue cat.
16. You are doing a wonderful thing!!!
You will need:
Food and water bowls = cheap, or you can use any glass bowls you already have
Litter box = about $20 or less
Litter scooper = $1
Litter = varies by brand (better cat litter will cost more)
Scratching post = $15 - again, depends on type
Toys = cheap, cat will play with anything
Blankets or towels to sleep on = cheap, you can buy baby blankets from the Dollar Tree
17. You will need:
> A food and water bowl - could be £1, could be £5; it depends how much you want to spend!
> A scratching TREE (not just a single post; they are boring and too small for adult cats) - anywhere between £20-80
This is a good, cheap one: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8701129/Trail/searchtext%3ECAT.htm Argos have lots of good things. They have a cat/kitten starter pack for £15. The £24.99 one isn't as good, because the post is too small for an adult cat.
> Some toys! And catnip to spray on them once in a while! Toys on wands are great, as are these cat cubes: my cats play, sleep and hide in there all day! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IKEA-red-cat-bed-tent-with-ears-whiskers-tail-NEW_W0QQitemZ300196228843QQihZ020QQcategoryZ66762QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Spending £5-20 on toys is fine.
> You could get a cat bed, but they prefer sleeping on human beds! A nice, large fleecy throw would be good though - you can put it wherever your cat likes to sleep. You could just pick one up from a supermarket or Primark for a few quid. It doesn't need to be one for pets!
> A large litter tray - covered or uncovered, it's up to you. This would cost about £5
> A collar, if you think she'll wear it. About £5.
So how much you spend is totally up to you. I spent about £80 on all of the above; but you could do it for £50!
IKEA also have some cool and quite cheap pet things now!
