Is it possible 4 me to start a dog/cat rescue?
My family and I have been wanting to do something to help out some of these animals in this world. We are thinking about starting up a dog/cat rescue. We already know where to get the supplies and everything for them. What do you all think about us starting one?
Should it be a no-kill unless the animal is not adoptable or what kind? Please give us some advice!!!

1. Oh that's great!! I'd like to discuss this with you, actually. If you would let me, I'd love to help out, or, with the advice at least! You can e-mail me so we can discuss it!
I do think it should be a no-kill. There's this show on T.V called "dog town" or something, that will take in dogs from shelters that are going to be put down, or if they can't be taken care of, or need training. So, you could send them to dog town, if all else fails!
But, I think you should open up a rescue! That would be wonderful
2. What do you mean no-kill. O__O
Don't kill anything.
I'm sure you could if you think yoru responsible enough and people are willing to help. And you would need a good amount of money and love.
3. Be aware you need a lot of time and money for this, and plenty of supplies. You need a network of fosters and volunteers to help with exercise, just to begin with.
Honestly, I don't reccomend doing this. Foster for a larger organization, or volunteer. Adopt a shelter animal or two. You need more people and resources for a rescue operation than I think you realize.
4. Starting up your own rescue would be difficult and very time consuming. A better option might be to foster for a legitimate rescue organization. I know that the organization that I foster for is ALWAYS looking for more foster homes. Try contacting local rescues in your area and ask about becoming a foster parent. It's very rewarding, and I highly recommend it!
5. I think you might be better off volunteering for an existing rescue, at least for a while, so you can better understand what goes into rescuing. It's not as easy as you might think - there's A LOT that goes into it that you might not be aware of.
