What breeds of cat are the most intelligent and loyal?
What breeds are the most intelligent and loyal and trainable among others?
Mention a few different ones I want to keep my options open.
Also can you ever walk a cat off leash or it will run away?

1. abyssinians are great, but they will bite your nose
2. Burmese
3. Calico
(not sure of the spelling, i have this cat presently) mainecoon
and it will just run away
4. well.. i dont know much about cats. but... i think it doesnt matter watever breed it is... its just on how u treat them and how u trained it..
5. CALICOS! Okay, so that's not a breed, it's a color. I'm a little biased as my baby girl is a calico. She's very affectionate and smart. I wouldn't say she's trained, but she's definitely trained me. I've taken her in the backyard with me without a leash. She sniffs around and talks to birds, but never has she tried to run. I never ever ever leave her unattended. Just like a human baby, ya gotta keep your eye on 'em. :)
6. I may be partial, but I've had Siamese cats for a number of years and I have found them to be very observant and very intelligent. Some of them sometimes can be a little possessive and some of them kind of stick to one person in the house, but they can be very loving.
7. I have a rescued what i believe to be a Russian Blue...he is too smart for his own good. he was completely feral, but you probably wouldn't know that now. he taught himself how to fetch. You can get cat harnesses to walk cats, thought about it but never tried.
8. Abyssinians are extremely intelligent. However, good luck training a cat!!!
Believe it or not, my 1/2 Siamese likes to be walked on a leash, but neighbors think it's weird when my kids "walk their cat" PLUS my Siamese mix is not smart at all. I imagine it's just him, not the breed. Sorry to sound like a hater, but we call him our dumb blonde (sorry to the millions of smart blondes out there!!).
So, forget training a cat, especially a smart one. The cat will likely train YOU, which is what cats do best.
Enjoy their independent spirits.
9. I have domestic short hair cats- 3 black and 1 gray. They are all very loyal- they follow me everywhere! They also like to play fetch. Even though they are technically "mutts", I would not get any other breed.
10. Siamese and Turkish Van cats are 2 of my favs and are very smart. They are very doglike without the annoying dog habits. If you cat is used to being on a leash then do not let it off or it may run. Letting a cat roam outside on his own is not a good idea. They can get into all sorts of bad things.
11. Persians are the most loyal because they don't hurt you unless you bother them. and why put a cat on a leash? you will have to train them to be ether indoor or outdoor if out door keep outside and wait till they come back. don't worry they'll come back because they ll be hungry.
12. I have traditional doll faced Persian and she is very loving cat. She will play when she wants to. When she wants my attention then she will paw at me. When I tell my cat to lay down she will lay on my desk and a few other things. She is half Persian. Her fur is not like other fur that you see on other Persians. It is very soft. It is like the fur of a baby persian cat.
If you want the cat to walk beside you it will not it will run.
It is not hard to train a cat. It takes patience and if you have that then you can train a cat the way you want to without getting mad at it. There is a web site and it is called Traditional doll faced Persian.com
13. I agree with Billie. My cat is not a certain breed. My cat listens to me just like a child. He follows me everywhere I go.He sits with me wherever I sit.Right now he is right beside me sleeping. And if I move into the kitchen or wherever he will be right with me.He is a inside cat.I got him soon as he was able to leave his mother. He has been with me for 7 years. When I speak to him,he understands. When he is sick he lets me know.He doesnt scratch my furniture or spray the house. He doesnt worry about other pets, small or big.All i did was give him love.Sometimes I think its all up to the cat what he wants to be like.He can be calm or wild.
14. Siamese, Seal Point Siamese, Abysinnian.
15. Oh Tonkinese for sure, they greet you when you come home, follow you around the house, and view you as their own personal couch or bed. I would say Burmese may come in a tie for first, as a Tonkinese is a crossing of the Burmese and the Siamese. I have done lot of research on this. You can look at breed descriptions on the Cat Fanciers website see link below. Read up on Tonkinese, Burmese and Siamese as well, although Siamese these days have a particular physical appeal, Tonks are more moderate in their body types. This site is great; they discuss temperament as well as markings. A "tonk" will win you over for sure! I can practically guarantee it
16. After breeding and showing cats for 22 years, this is what I have found out:
Siamese are a "one person" cat. They usually bond with one person and don't like to be held or petted unless they want to be held or petted. lol
Russian Blues are intelligent, and quit large.
Persians don't like to play much, they like to sit around and do basically nothing. lol. You MUST brush a persian every day.
Turkish Vans are good cats, and they like water.
Sphynx (hairless) are loving and very warm. You need to buy them clothes as they get cld very easily.
My personal favorite is the Sable Burmese. My mom breeds these and they are dark chocolate brown with golden eyes. They are very "doglike" able to be trained, and sometimes learning to fetch and use the toilet all by themselves. They love to talk, and they follow you around and "help" you with everything. Email me at wikkidkitten@hotmail.com if you would like any more info. Hope this helps!
17. I breed Savannah cats. I have to say they are extremely loyal and very trainable. I also own a Bengal, British Shorthair and a Tonkinese. The Tonkinese is very loyal and very intelligent but has a mind of his own (-: The Savannahs are amazing for their bonding with their owners and their smarts.
