what cat breeds are the most affectionate?

I want a cat that is very friendly and affectionate. Like 1 that will stick 2 me =] & get along with my family.

1. i have to say i don't know much about breeds but i do know that if you get one from the pound instead of from some1 they act way more thankful and love on you more from my experience

3. I would have to aggree cats from the pound are usually more thankful, I have had some very affentionate barn cats as well, I don't think certian breeds are more affectionant then others. But just by looking at them for some reason persians just dont look affoinate to me, main coons seem pretty afficoinate i think their really playful and prolly a little rough at times, ragdolls seem very laid back. But if your looking for affionate deffinatly go to a pound stick your fingers to the cage and see which ones come to it and rub against it. Thankful animals are usually affionate. My dog we resuced and saved her from starvation nd shes the most affionate dog ever, i know its a dog but same situation, animals do have personalitys two kittewns from teh same litter one is really frisky and doesnt like to cuddle the other is a laid back cuddlebug

4. I have a siamese mix who is by far the most affectionate cat I have ever had. I got him from a kitty rescue. This is what wikipedia has to say about temperament:

"Siamese are affectionate and intelligent cats, renowned for their social nature. They enjoy being with people and are sometimes described as "extroverts". And as there are extrovert siamese, there also are very sensitive and nervous temperaments, which are not easily adapted to the changes of environment or to the strangers. They are extremely vocal, with a loud, low-pitched voice – known as "Meezer", from which they get one of their nicknames[3] – that has been compared to the cries of a human baby, and persistent in demanding attention. They also have a great need for human companionship. Often they bond strongly to a single person. These cats are typically active and playful, even as adults."

Wiki's temperament description does say that some may not deal well with strangers or changes in environment... That has not been the case with mine though. He loves anyone that is around, including children and is particularly bonded with me... probably because I am home the most and give him the most attention :)
