Which cat breeds generally grow the biggest?

I have a persian and a ragdoll and both are big fat kitties. What other breeds grow FAT?
Let me clarify: both of my cats are healthy weights for their breeds. They're both see the vet regularly and he's happy with their weight for their body types. But put either one next to a healthy domestic short hair and they look HUGE!

I'm asking what other cats are naturally larger than others, not seeking diet advice for my two cats.

Public Comments

1. No cat should get fat. It's not healthy. But big breeds include your Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest Cats and Maine Coons. British shorthairs also get pretty big.

2. I am not too sure about fat but here are some large breeds of house cats...

Birman Cats
The Maine Coon
The Ragdoll
Hybrid and Wild Cats

3. Any cat will get fat when it is overfed and not provided with any opportunities for exercise. Obesity can lead to serious health problems, like heart disease and diabetes. Please talk to your vet about a diet for both cats - they'll be so much happier and healthier for it.

4. This is a weird question, but this problem has been bugging me for YEARS.

I had a friend who had 3 cats. All were strays taken in from the street, her home area, from a friend. The all seemed like normal Domestic Short Hairs. They were all HUGE. Not fat, just giant. They looked like little cougars. Two were ginger and muscular as all get out, the third was black and white and a bit softer/chubbier but still looked good.

Now there's me. I take in a stray. She was sickly and I vetted her and nursed her back to heath. She looks like a Russian blue, but she's just a mutt. And she's only 5 pounds. What did I do wrong?

What makes some cats giants and other so puny? I wanted a big monster cat, but my little speck isn't too bad.

5. Maine Coons can grow to be very large, any others I am not sure of the name of, but if they are a mix with a wild breed of cat, they can get quite large as well.
