What are some of the most affectionate cat breeds?
I was reading something about Maine Coons earlier and how they're not really the type of cat who like to be babied, and they're more independent than not. With a few exceptions of course because all cats have different personalities.
But what are some breeds that are known for their affection?
Like cuddling, sleeping on laps (being a "lap cat"), licking, etc.

1. Personality has nothing to do with the breed of a cat. It's individual to the specific cat.
Lapcats are very few and far between. But if you want an affectionate cat that will sit by you, purr when you pet it and play with you, snuggle with you - adopt an ADULT cat - of any breed or no particular breed. With kittens you never know what their personality will be like - while with adult cats it's right there before you.
I have three cats that were adopted as adults and they're the sweetest, most loveable and most affectionate cats I've ever known. They sleep snuggled up to me and rarely leave my side when I'm at home.
edit: Shaycos - you claim to have a Sphynx yet can't even spell the breed name? That's a bit odd.
2. Well i have a Sphinx who runs to every visitor jumps on there lap and curls up. He's right softy and most seem to be . However have met one who seemed aloof. Also have several domestics and the long hair is also a cuddle cat, so is one of the short hairs. My Bengal loves attention but isn't one for being picked up.
3. Devon Rex!
I have never met a more clingy cat than my Devon. She wants to be with me ALL the time. If she's not touching me, she's crying. She loves being held and cuddled and clings to my neck when I try to put her down.
It's intense. Make SURE you can deal with it. It can be annoying to constantly have a cat in your face.
4. Turkish Vans are very affectionate and usually will constantly want to cuddle. They are also very vocal. They love water so don't be surprised if they follow you into the shower.
5. I have a Maine coon and let me tell you, she is a lap cat...super affectionate, purrs up a storm, is always looking for attention...she's just great. She's a real family cat...she loves everyone and everyone loves her.
Ragdolls are known for affection, as are Siamese. Siamese can be very possessive though...they tend to fixate on one person as "theirs".
Try a Maine coon. I love mine. She's a big, beautiful cat and is so friendly. She often won't leave my side.
