Do a mom cat know when you take her kittens after 12 months for adoption?

Do they recognize their kittens after when you take them away, or leave them with the mom? Is 12 months a good time for adoption?
*Does a mom cat know

1. 12 months is plenty of time for her to say farewell to her babes. in general, she may have a favorite or two that she could easily reunite with, but in general, she will forget most of them after a few months and if you were to try to get them back together, it would not go well. I have had experience with it.

2. No and that is fortunate.
Cause if as a mom she did know that 1/2 of those babies will be killed and 8 million cats were being killed each year just for being born, she might wish she had a caring responsible owner that would get her fixed

3. You can separate them at the age of eight weeks. There will come a time that the Mother grows tired of the kittens climbing all over her. Don't get me wrong the Mother cat will more than likely be a great Mom, but there is a time that the kittens cut their baby teeth, at three and half to four weeks old. And those teeth hurt the Mother when they continue to feed. They will get their permanent teeth when they are six months old.

There will come a time like after eight months and especially at the 12 month mark that the Mother and the kittens don't seem to even know each other anymore. It is like the Mother has done her job and she moves on. In fact we have a Mother and her little girl who is not even a year old and the Mother actually is mean to her at times. I guess that is just the way of nature.
