Should I ask for adoption fee refund for getting a sick cat?

I adopted a siamese cat from a pet rescue group, a month later he died. Should I ask for a refund since I spent over a thousand dollars in medical bills?

1. I would if I were you.

2. I would contact the rescue group and see what they say. It depends on what the cat died from. Rescue groups do their best but cant predict what will happen. The same thing happened to me 3 months after getting a kitten, we had to put him down. I let the shelter know but didnt seek a refund. Good luck!

3. You probably signed a contract when you adopted him, it should state whether you can attempt to get a refund. I'm sorry for your loss... at least you gave him a better home while he was living than the animal shelter could have done.

4. Sorry about your cat:(
if you were informed that the cat was sick, than u cant ask for a refund. If you were not - in any way - aware of her illness, and you can prove that her illness is not due to negligence or miss treat than you can claim

5. rescue organizations cant usually even afford to pay you back...the fee u paid is a donation....they usually have it vet checked before and you should have copies of those...other tahn that its just nature...you cant give a health guarantee on animals...esp. rescue ones as even the shelter knows very little....I know this...i do this everyday...people turn in animals and dont even give us names...its just horrific

6. I'm sorry for the lost of your cat. I know the feeling of spending alot of money to try and save a cat, but once you take home an adopted pet you are responsible for it's care... I think you should find it in your heart to adopt another cat and give it a good home...

7. I just adopted a cat today and I know they have a 2 week health/temperment exchange policy. I would call your shelter to see if they have one too.
