cat adoption procedure?
I would like to give a 7 years old cat up for adoption. What should I do? who can I go to or where? and basically the procedure please.

1. The problem is that a 7 year old cat is not easy to place. I have to hope you want him/her to live out a long life, so the best solution is to find a no-kill shelter. A way to find out who has cats is to look at petfinder as pretending you are seeking a cat, and then call and explain. Since most are overwhelmed, providing some financial assistance to the group would go a long way in giving a positive answer.
2. Thats sad but if you feel u must give him/her away try craigslist.com
3. You can contact your local humane society or cat rescue and ask if they can help you find it a new home (by either surrendering it to them, or ideally, letting you keep the cat at your home, but putting it on their site for potential adopters to see). Or you can post an ad on petfinder.com yourself, or in the newspaper, or on craigslist or another online site. Then you can proceed with the adoption just like a shelter would. Have people answer questions, either in a verbal interview or make up an adoption application. Check vet references, if they rent, contact the landlord about their pet policy, ask them about themselves, etc. You can decide to charge a SMALL fee if the cat is totally up to date on its shots and fixed, or give him away for free. Good luck
