I want to give our cat up for adoption for free, and can't find anyone to take him. What do I do?
I don't want to give him to humane socitey, I've heard horrible stories.

1. Why do you want to give him up?
2. Check out rescue groups in your area.
DO NOT dump him or take him "into the wild". Your cat will die.
Google "no kill shelters" in your area.
3. It depends on where you live. Where I live, which would be New Jersey, we are a no-kill to low kill state.
Make sure the cat is fixed first!! I can not stress this enough!!!
Put up an ad on craigslist.org in the appropriate section of where you live. Make sure the adoption fee is over 40 or 50$ to keep psychos. at bay.
If you want to, which this will likely work, include something like a months supply of cat litter + her food in the adoption fee as an incentive.
4. Put notices up all around your neighborhood, in the grocery stores, drug stores, in your vets office, etc. You'll get quick results.
5. Contact your vet. Someone may have lost a treasured pet recently and they would be more willing to take an unwanted pet.
Write a biography of your pet to give to the person who may adopt him to read so they can ease the new cat into their household. Tell them about all his bad and good habits and be honest. Tell them about his cute habits as well.
I am sorry that you feel you have to give up your pet but know that sometimes we don't have a choice. Contacting your vet and maybe a few other vets in your area you will have a better chance of finding a good new home for your cat.
6. horrible stories? you want horrible stories about pets given away for free? there are a TON out there. There are people who go around looking for free pets simply to resell to testing labs, who do unspeakable things. Then there are people who look for free pets to use as bait for fighting dogs. then there are those who use pets for food for larger pets..
I absolutely hate to say it, but if you don't know the person you are rehoming to, you are better off bringing it to the humane society so it will have a chance to find a better home, and if one is not out there, they will humanely put her to sleep. A far better option than many a fate that await her if you are not around to take care of her
7. POST STUFFF UP ROUND UR TOWN AND TALK TO A VET!
8. Where are you i adopt the cat?
9. Craigslist.com
Post " FREE CAT! IF YOUR NICE YOU CAN HAVE EM!"
then meet with them at starbucks
and ask to see their liscense to make
sure their who they say they are and not
some cat-fighting-ring manager.
Should be fine babyyy. (;
