How can I get immediate adoption for my 1yr old cat?

My noble cat has 1yr old and he's leukemia positive. My husband can't live with him because of his allergic reaction...(he can't take allergic pills) and my cat is very happy inside. I just took him out to my backyard but he's crying to go inside : ( I can't stand to hear him cry!! Please can you tell me the faster way to put him in adoption?

1. Google no-kill animal shelters in your area. They will take your cat and find a good home for him.

2. If your cat is FeLV positive, most shelters will not take him. Or they will take him and immediately put him down. You are not likely to find someone willing to adopt a cat with this disease because it's very easily transmitted between cats and is also very deadly.
My sister had a kitten that she found as a stray that was FeLV positive and it died before it was a year old.

3. Another suggestion, call your vet.Your vet and the employees have many contacts who can suggest where to find a good home for your
kitty. But please get him inside asap.

4. As well as checking out the cat shelters in your area that dont kill them also put ads on friday ad & gumtree online.

I bet there are heaps of people that would love to take him!

Good Luck xx

5. Throw it at someone and tell them that they touched it last, so its theirs now.

6. call a felv rescue group

7. ok heres my idea take a pic of him and put posters around town for him to be adopted for free tell them of your husbands allergy and tell then that he has leukemia and they will probaly want him more this may take up to 2 days it depends how many posters you put up and how many cities you go to.
my dog has to have laser eye surgery so i know how you feel about this . if none of this works you can take him to the closest animal shelter and they will take him in and find him a good home. most pets there find good homes if he is over the age of 5 years i would not recamend putting him in animal shelter because most people want kittens and older cats there is a slight chance that older cats get picked over kittens . if you follow all these ideas im pretty sure that you will a nice home for your cat.
i wish you your husband and your cat the best of luck

8. Is it possible for you to keep the cat in one room of your house away from your husband? Please do not leave him outside, it is not familiar to him and he may get seriously injured by a car and suffer. Do you have a family member or friend that can take him, even keep him in a bathroom or other room in their house until a new home is found for him? He may not be quite as happy in a bathroom, but believe me it is far better than being killed. If you have a digital camera, take a picture of him and post an ad on petfinder.com and an ad on craigslist.org. Just be sure to be honest about him being leukemia positive. Good luck! I hope you find him a home!

9. the cat got sick and now all of a sudden he is allergic? Now you have kicked him out? You know dam well that he will be a dead cat if you don't keep him

What kind of people are you? What does your word mean? After all, whwn you got this life you promised to take care of him throughout
Now it is just a cat huh?
My advice? Get the dictionary out and look up a few words
loyalty
responsibility
obligation
promises
love
Give me a break he's allergic Please

10. First - your cat cannot be outdoors, as he will infect every cat he comes in contact with. Plus any germs he encounters will make him very sick, and he can die from that. I just find it so terribly "odd" that he's been diagnosed with something, and your husband is conveniently "allergic". Did you know that "allergies" are the #1 excuse for cats being dumped at shelters? There are too many allergy medications that are available from qualified doctors for that to be an excuse.

So let's just cut to the chase - shelters will immediately euthanize a FeLV + cat. Rescues won't take him either, as he's contageous to other cats. They can live long and happy lives as an indoor cat, as an only cat, with other FeLV+ cats, or with dogs. There is no reason to dump him.

I surely hope that you and your husband never have children. They come with health issues too, and can be pretty darn inconvenient.

11. To be honest, it is incredibly difficult to find a home for a FeLV+ cat. I have one myself. I love her dearly. I know that for the rest of my life, I will care for these poor diseased cats.

It is a contgious disease, which weakens the immune system and frequently leads to other illnesses. A healthy diet combined with a loving home environment with proper medical care and these cats can live a long, happy life. (I know ones who are still kicking at 9 years old!)

However, finding a home such as the one described it nearly impossible. There are sanctuaries across the country dedicated to these kitties. You could perhaps google them and see if they can offer you any assistance. Please, don't get your hopes up. They are often full to capacity or even over their limit. It can't hurt to ask.

No-kill shelters are few and far between and almost always at maximum capacity.

He cannot be an outside cat. This is very dangerous to him (he is an easy target for larger animals as well as deranged humans) as well as other outdoor cats who may become infected.

Call your vet and ask for advice.
