On cat adoption application whats a good answer for this?
it asks what would you do if your cat was to bit someone. I said that if it bit me I would be ok with that, that I understand.I got an e-mail back asking what would you do if it bit someone else or someone visiting. I have no idea how to answer this.

1. Say that you would have a spray bottle with water to train it to not bite anyone, including you. If it bit someone visiting you would spray it with the water.2. I have adopted several cats and have never been asked this question?? I would email them back and ask what the appropriate thing to do is. Just explain that you have never been in this situation, but would definitely take the right measures if it happens. I would assume the person that was bit would need to get medical attention. Usually you have to have a tetnus shot when you are bitten by an animal.
3. Just be honest...They are looking for an answer like you would work on the behavior issue, remove the cause of the problem for the cat or you would call them and ask on how to deal with the situation. What they don't want is "I would kill the cat", or "I'd boot it outside."
4. They shouldn't be adopting out cats that bite. Not sure I understand the question but I would wash the bite out with running warm water & soap. I can tell if a cat's going to bite by its body language. I would tell the person not to touch the cat.
5. I have done adoptions at three different shelters in the past ten years and have never seen that question on an application.
It is the law in most of the US that a cat who bites a stranger (owners would not be likely to report such an incident) that it must be quarantined for ten days to see if it has rabies. Say that you would be sure your cat was vaccinated for rabies. Maybe that's what they are looking for.

7. Well, first of all you should know if it had its shots, so it won't spread rabies or anything. Secondly I think you should say you would apologize and maybe put the cat in a room when company is comany is coming over. Also though, if it is a seriously violent cat and bites very often or attacks people, you should definately take it to the vet.
8. They want to know how you will handle it - to the person above, it is not that they adopt out cats with biting problems, but that no matter how domesticated they are, a cat is still an animal and it may get sick and bite. Or someone could annoy it enough that it will react.
They want to make sure that you will know how to react to behavior issues and how to train your pet.
Some people really are stupid enough to admit they would hit their pets, I've seen it all.
9. tell the person bit that your cat has all it's shots including rabies..show them your rabies certificate or tag...then clean and flush the bite, treat with some antiseptic..and if it gets worse you'll have to pay doctor bill
10. ive never heard of a ? like that.. i guess if the cat bit someone else, ya, i guess you could squirt it with water..but most likely, the cat wouldnt even be around if you have company..most cats are nervous around new people..good luck with that..i hope you get your cat..
11. Maybe they are wanting to know if you would get angry or hurt the cat?? A cat bite is always provoked, they don't just go up & bite someone. Tell them you would remove the cat from the situation and ask the person it bit how you can help them. They shouldn't adopt out a cat that is a biter without informing you.
12. i adopted cats at shelter they never ask this question.i guess say you cat has his shots especially rabies.you cat will never bit nobody because he is not wild.
13. Hopefully your cat has had all of its' shots and immunizations and you would be able to provide the victim with this information. You would also want to know if there was any other damage. Also, if your cat is now known to be problematic, you would have to keep it contained so it wouldn't hurt anyone else. There is a possibility of a lawsuit if your cat hurts someone else.
14. I honestly never have been asked this question either when I adopted my 2 cats. Just explain to them you're new with adopting cats and want to understand what to do...Showing the adoption agency you are wanting to learn is a good thing...It shows you'll give the cats proper care or treatment if needed...
15. They WILL adopt you the cat regardless of your answer. Tell them that you have no clue what to do in such situation and ask what they can recommend.
16. Any animal can bite and they want to know what you would do if it did bite. Some kittens will bite to play and you just need to teach them it is not appropriate without hitting them.
If they bite then tell them no and stop playing with them...when they do not bite tell them good kitty and give them treats. After doing this several times they will get the idea and not bite anymore.
17. I would correct the cat by spraying it with a water bottle and letting it know by verbal talk that that was something that it didn't do. This is a first timer for me I have never been asked a question like this before.
18. If you say that you will punish the cat for biting, your application may be immediately be rejected. And with good reason.
If I were answering that question, I'd say:
I will apologise to my freind for my cats' rude behavior; asure him or her that my cat's shots are up to date and offer to treat the bite wound. I will take my cat to another room away from the visitor because obviously the cat is distressed by my freinds' presence. After such an episdoe I will make sure that my cat is confined in a room with his necessaries if I am expecting visitors at home.
19. I Have Worked at Several Shelters and We dont ask this..I would Answer That I would Make sure My Cat was Always Up to Date on All Shots Including Rabies,So that if it Bit someone it wouldnt have to be quarentined..I would offer to pay any Medical Bills.and I would make sure my cat was in another room when people came over if it turned out to be a biter. That would Raise My suspision..Ask them If this Cat Bites!
