How do I rescue an abandoned cat left outside of my apartments?

There is this cat that is ALWAYS outside day or night. I feel so bad for it, it seems hungry and weaker by the day. How do I rescue it? Do I call animal control? I DON'T KNOW IF THE OWNER IS FEEDING IT OR WHATEVER THEY ARE. I live in Florida, who could I call? Thanks.

1. It's not rocket science. just give him some chicken or cat food and see if he will come to you.
if he is calm and happy to meet you then take him to a local vet for proper shots and test.
don't be afraid of him. just be sensible in contacting the little animal :)

2. if you want to adopt it.........then help yourself...........

put some wet cat food outside your door...........

think about a name for this cat.......i have a feral cat i named blackie and i put food down and eventually i stood there and he got closer and closer to me.....................

eventually he allowed me to pet him.......one night i saw that his eye was ripped up and i called the vet and asked how much was the services was for his eye to be removed..........all the service, eye, being neutered, shots cost $ 200.00.

so i took him to the vet and kept him in the bathroom for about 2 weeks.........one morning, he flew out of the bathroom spitting and wanting to KICK SOME !!! and made his way to the sun portch............

i took him the next morning and got his sutures out and let him go when i got back home..........i couldn't keep him because i already have 11 cats......

but i feed him several times a day when i ask for him...........

3. Take it into your home. Take it to the vet and ask the vet for the best place to keep it (If you don't want it)

4. You can contact an animal rescue group or sanctuary in your area and tell them about it. They are trained to humanely capture cats (and other animals) and have access to reduced-cost vet care. They will also be able to find out if the cat is lost, and may be able to return it to its owner.

In the meantime, how about putting out bowls of food and water so that the poor cat can get a little stronger and will stay around your building so the shelter folks can find it easier? And it would be the kind and compassionate thing to do.

Since you did not say where you live in Florida, I have attached a couple of websites with animal shelters in your state.

Thank you for caring enough to post this question. God bless you.
