Adopting an outdoor cat from an adoption center?

I have always wanted a cat and the only way my mom would let me is if it's an outdoor cat. So is it possible to adopt an outdoor cat from an adoption center?

1. Yes it is they have outdoor cats you just have to be very clear with them when adopting

2. Yes, be sure to be obvious and up-front about what you're looking for.

Outdoor cats - especially outdoor-only cats - don't live very long and are prone to a lot of danger, especially from dogs, other animals like coyotes, other cats, and traffic accidents. Many do not live past three years of age. That's why most rescue organizations hate giving their cats to those who will only allow the animal outdoors.

If you make your intentions clear, you will probably find someone willing to do it, though. You might have to broaden your search away from just one type of adoption. Just make sure your new kitty gets spayed/neutered (this will solve a lot of problems for your cat, prevent pet overpopulation, and make things much easier for you), has a nice warm shelter, and always has access to food and fresh water.

I am not someone who's crazy about keeping cats outdoors, but since you are dependent on what your mother insists you don't have many options aside from just not getting a kitten at all. =/

I don't mean to be negative - just trying to help out. Best of luck, whatever you do. =)

3. it is possible, but frowned upon. my cat was a kitten dropped off, and shes 15+ living outside. So i don't really believe that living outside is a problem. He is our 3rd cat that lived this long.
