How do you go about getting a rescue dog or cat?
I live in Aberystwyth, Wales and would like to adopt a rescue cat or dog bu we don't know where to start. Thanks

1. Look up RSPCA in the phone book , then give them a ring.2. Try Powys Animal Welfare Trust ,they have animals for adoption. You should decide first whether you want a dog or cat,do some research first,then apply to them. they will do a home visit to make sure you and your home is suitable and then introduce you to any animals that would suit your requirememnts and your accomadation etc. You might have to wait a little while until the perfect pet is found for you.
3. look in the phone book for shelters - under ANIMAL RESCUE - or call a vet to see where shelters are in your area..

4. There is a local Cats Protection branch near you. Go to the link attached and you can see some of the lovely felines waiting for new homes.
Cats Protection ensure cats are healthy and flea free, vaccinated and microchipped. They're dedicated to ensuring every cat finds a new home, with a policy not to destroy any healthy cat. They do a house check and can give advice.
My local Cats Protection staff are very friendly and helpful, yours will be too.
5. First you need t go to your local animal rescue centre. they will get you to fill in a form and then a member of staff will have a quick chat to you to see if they have anythinhg suitable for you. If they do you will then get to meet it. If all goes well and you decide to offer it a home then if it is a dog you will need to come three times and take it for walks and all the family including any other dogs you will need to come in and meet the dog . Then there will be the home check where they come and check your home is suitable and can offer advcie on how to make the animal coming home run smoothly. Then you pay the adoption fee and take the pet home.
