1. .

2. It sounds like your cat's skin is very irritated or going through one of two causes:

-Depression or over-cleaning
-Stress

There are ways to treat the condition, the vet would advise a good shampoo made just for them and.. providing if you want to risk yourself, a good, cold bath helps.

3. You could probably get more help if you shared where your cat was missing some fur.

Sometimes, a cat can be bitten by a bug, and they don't have to be outdoor cats for this to happen. The bug bite will irritate their skin, and they'll either lick that area or bite it, to alleviate the symptoms of the bug bite. If the cat does this often enough, over a period of time, the constant licking or biting can remove the fur. It could also be caused by a scratch from another animal, or gotten scratched by something around the house.

Any time a cat gets scratched or bitten, it'll bother them. Just like how your skin gets inflamed and you start scratching if you're bitten by a cat. As I stated above, enough persistence in licking and biting *will* remove fur.

However, advice on a website such as this cannot replace the proper medical advice of a trained veterinarian. If the cost is not an issue, go see a vet as soon as possible, so you can rule out anything serious. Nothing "can be done" by you, typically. You want to get proper advice from someone who knows what they're doing, and has done so for a while.

4. He could have ringworm. The chances of it increase if you have other pets (like a dog) that do go outside. If not that, then he could be over grooming as a result of stress or because he has worms. Did you change his food, or has something in his environment changed or maybe a different flea medication? If so, it could be that he has an allergy. If he's older and is also losing weight, it could be hyperthyroid. All of these things and more can cause hair loss in a cat. It's sometimes quite difficult to pin down an exact cause, so the only thing I can recommend is for him to go to the vet for a checkup. That's really the only way you'll find out, and until you do there's no way to know how to treat it since different causes call for different treatments.

5. It probelly has some sort of external parasite. It may have mange (i think there are different kinds), lice, fleas, ringworm, i forgot the same but there is a disease where they persistantly lick themselves raw, and ear mites can lead to fleas so check that. Extreme stress can do that to a cat also. Have you given him a bath maybe he's allergic to the shampoo or something in the house.
