Cat breeds?

What is the nicest and most expensive of all cat breeds?
If you dont have a clue about cat breeds then why even answer my question!

Public Comments

1. I haven't a clue, but in my heart I know the nicest my two moggies that were both taken from their mothers too early and rescued from a shelter when no one wanted them... They are sooooo beautiful and one has persian in him which makes him quite unique...

I couldn't put a price on them so maybe they are the most expensive cats there are!

2. i have no idea but i have a purdy grey himalayin named Oliver whom i love very much<3

3. I don't have a clue about cat breeds but I do know dog breeds!

4. Purebred cats are like real estate -- whatever the market will bear. If you're looking for expensive, search different breeds starting at http://www.cfainc.org This association will show you the different breeds and explain all about them in the breed standards. Then you can search on the breed name and get the websites of breeders. They may or may not show prices.

"Nice" means different things to different people, so you need to observe the breed and see if it's what you want. If the cat is being sold as a purebred, it should have papers. Technically, it isn't a purebred unless you have a registered cat. Otherwise, it's just a cat cat.

Why don't you see if there is a cat show in your area (should be on the CFA website or ACFA or TICA) and visit the show to see the different breeds in person. Some of the breeders may also have kittens for sale.

My husband wanted a Blue Somali so badly. It's a gorgeous cat and we got a medium priced female. She wanted to be petted constantly and when she was on your lap she wanted to keep licking your chin or rubbing under your chin. She was so active it was hard to keep up with her. We have a rather quiet household and when she emptied the cupboards in the cattery (they had spring hinges on the doors) and looked so proud of her accomplishment, we decided she needed a new home. So that's a good example of why you shouldn't choose a cat by breed, expense, or looks.

Sometimes the price of a cat will have something to do with how rare it is. The last time I was at a cat show the prices of the Sphinx cats were the highest. But I prefer Scottish Fold or Selkirk Rex or British Shorthair.

5. Egyptian Mau is the most expensive... but as far as nice goes my favorite is Servals.

That is if you have the space to house a cat the size of some dogs.

But I'll take my little orange tabby over an expensive, exotic breed any day.

6. Well price depends on the individual cat. A show quality cat of any breed will cost more than a pet quality cat of that breed. The most expensive would probably be the Ashera, if you call that a breed (and I'd prefer not to, frankly) at something like $20000. Savannahs are probably expensive too. And top breeders will pay a lot of money for some breeding quality Bengals.

As to nicest, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and bears no relation to the price.

lol Linda - I had to laugh at your description of the Somali you had. My Somali is emptying a kitchen cupboard as I type! That's Somalis for you. And yes, you're right - it's important to research a breed thoroughly before you get one and make sure it's the right cat for you.

7. the nicest cats are the ones you get from the pound, they will appreciate you more then some expensive breed.

8. Dont know about most expensive but Persian are the nicest breed in my opinion.

9. Most expensive are Toygers, Bengals, Sphynx, Selkirk Rex...

Nicest are LaPerms, Devon Rex, Asians, Singapuras and Somalis.

10. depends what you class as nice i like long haired (some may hate them) like main coon or purisan, also rather fond of ragdolls.
Ive got a long haired moggie who is nearly 16 and she is priceless.
most pedigree in uk will be around 300 to 500 pounds.

I would think that the rare breeds would be the most expessive
