I want to start a non-profit horse/cat rescue, what should I get my degree in?

Public Comments

1. veterinary medicine would be necessary for what you want to do....best of luck

2. you dont actually need a degree but I would suggest some classes in business, as well as animal care and health.. also read this about how to start an animal rescue

http://bizcovering.com/opportunities/how-to-start-a-pet-rescue/

3. not necessarily a degree but I think you should study a certificate in horse husbandry and animal attending, and make sure you have a vet organised to help out at minimal or no cost because animal rescue is very, very expensive. Have you thought about fundraising and/or sponsors because the money needs to come from somewhere.
Maybe you could talk to your local shelter and see if they can give you any pointers.
BTW do you have a lot of land with good fences/buildings?
