1. Yes there is always an adoption fee , so that the facility can keep running . Shelters spay and neuter and administer shots before adopting kitties out so it is only fair there is an adoption fee. It is normally between 50 - 100 $ .
2. If your concern is paying, you may not be prepared to have a pet just yet. A small adoption fee is minimal compared to the vet visits and any medications/procedures your new pet would need. If you're worried about a small adoption fee, perhaps you should wait.
Most shelters charge anywhere from $5-$40 depending on the animal, less for smaller types of animals. It varies by shelter and location, it could be free, it could be more. The only way to know is to call your shelter and ask or look them up and see if they have a website which should have all that information.
3. Give them a call or visit their web site, everywhere and every shelter is different.
Many times, it depends on if the cat was spade/neutered when it was brought to the shelter. Most won't let you adopt a 'complete' animal and if they did the operation in house they sometimes charge more.
4. ,i think you must pay something because they exist from that money and they can rescue more animals, but the amount depends you have to call them and ask them
5. In the U.S., depending on the center, there usually is a fee, especially if the cat has had its shots and been neutered. Our local shelters have you fill out forms, submit to an interview and a surprise home visit, just as if you were adopting a child. The cost can be up to $100 or more. You could look for newpaper ads for "Free to Good Home" and hope for the best. You should still have the neutering done and the shots.
6. You might have to pay a little, but in most adoption, and rescue centres, they dont make you pay, because you are giving an animal a home...
7. I've seen anywhere from $5-$250 for normal cats and yesterday I saw a purebred something for $650 at a shelter. Most are less than $100. You just have to call your local shelters and see as it varies greatly.
Don't forget the expense of caring for the cat which can easily be $500 a year (more if they have a tendancy to be sick or injured).
8. Most centers do charge for you to adopt a cat and they have set prices.
They charge because, especially in the UK, the get no government funding and rely on adoption fees to keep the places going.
Some may ask for a donation but most have their own fees.
The RSPCA charge £45 for cats and £40 for kittens but the charge differs for pedigree.
9. When I addopted my cat I only have to make a donation of any amount to the shelter. It's what ever you can afford so I don't know whay other people are saying $200 or so.
10. some are 30 pound, cat protection just ask for donation what you can afford
