Was relinquishing my cat to a rescue organization the right thing?
I had to return my cat to the rescue I got her from because my roommate was allergic and I was worried about placing her with a foster in fear it may stress her out. But now I hear that she is not adjusting well, and growls at other cats according to the rescue coordinator. Was she trying to make me feel guilty, or did I do a horrible thing?

1. If your roommate is allergic, it's pretty hard to make it work short of finding a new roommate which is not often practical. It's your rooomate's home too. I think you did the right thing.
2. you did what you could do and the coordinator should have not told you this this is their way of making you feel guilty.
3. At least you know the cat is in a safe place. You made a good decision.
4. Maybe you should send your roommate to an allergy dr. & you should get your cat back.
5. i honestly think you did the right thing for all three of you. the only mistake made here was that of the cordinator, by telling you what was going on after you returned the cat. what i would do in this situation, is go to the coordinator's boss, and let them know what's going on, they will handle it from there.
6. You might feel better by finding someone who can adopt the cat. Whether or not you did the right thing before isn't really what matters now. It's what you do NOW that matters. If you can help this cat that you feel responsible for, I think you will feel so much more assured. The right thing to do is what is best for the lives of all involved, and that absolutely includes the cat.
I hope this helps!!
7. Why did you roommate not tell you she was allergic before adopting the kitty? It would have avoided this ordeal for you and kitty. Cats don't like change so I am sure the cat was upset when it came back to the rescue, but it will get over it and so will the rescue coordinator. If I were you don't feel bad about what the rescue coordinator said. I myself assist res cue's with the adoption process and I am sure she was just frustrated to get the cat back because they get bombarded with res cue's. Her frustration was disappointment. Next time check you living conditions first before adopting.I commend you on returning it and not dumping it. good luck.
8. You copped out, and the rescue coordinator is trying to put a guilt trip on you. But you don't know the difference between a living animal and a Kleenex. Send $5 a week to the rescue for the rest of your life, and never get another pet.
9. the co-ordinator wouldnt have called you if she didnt care about the cat.. I worked at a shelter and we almost never called people
why did you pick your roommate over your cat?
knowing that shelter cats (particularly if they are not kittens) have a very poor chance of getting adopted..
I would have kicked out the roommate, told them to get allergy meds - fed the cat different food, brushed it more.. or got an air filter...
do what ever you can to help your cat.. the co-ordinater is for real
10. yes you did the right thing..the other thing you could do is volunteer at the shelter to help ease your guilt and you could still see this cat and any others that come in...your cat has to adjust to being in a shelter again..and im sure its a hard thing for her to do
