cat rescue? My life seems to have always revolved around cats. Sounds funny I know, but I seem to relate to them. I've dedicated my life to helping them too. The county I live in doesn't have a humane society, and not much of an animal shelter. Dogs seem to be very popular here, but cats are not. Many cats in my area are homeless and most people I know will just shoot them or poison them. I want badly to start a cat rescue, but have no idea how to start one. Does anyone have any advice or know how I can find out? ANYTHING BAD YOU SAY ABOUT CATS I'LL REPORT YOU! Thanks :)
How can I start my own cat rescue leaque? Hi, I love animals very much and especially cats. I can't stand abuse of animals and I have found so many people that don't like cats. I currently take care of my elderly father, but I would like to one day buy a small piece of land so that I can rescue cats and care for them. I would love ideas on how to get this accomplished and how to seek some aide like from vets to get the cats spayed so they don't have more kittens and also some help on food and cat litter supplies etc.
How do I get our one-year old cat to accept our new, two-year old refugee/rescue cat? We got Sophie about 3 months ago from a cat rescue centre and she's just over a year old now. Last week we took in a 2 year old Norwegian Forest female from a friend, whose 3 other cats (one of which was a sibling) constantly attacked and bullied her. Our cat just won't leave the new cat alone! She used to be loving, friendly and totally cute but now she's just a little horror. We feel so sorry for the new arrival - she's had such a bum deal so far and she spends most of her time hiding from Sophie. The only time she'll come out and play/eat/use the litter tray/etc is when Sophie's outdoors or in another room. I know it's still very early days, but my question is this: is there a way that we can get the two cats to accept each other more quickly. I've heard the one about rubbing the new cat in Sophie's bedding, but that's not made the slightest difference. Any idea and suggestions would be very welcome. Incidentally, they have both been spayed...
what is a catchy phrase for a cat rescue? I volunteer at a cat rescue and im trying to get the word about them out. Im going to pass out information out about them at coffee shops, stores, etc. but i need a catchy phrase about rescuing a cat to catch peoples attention. Any ideas?
Name for youth newsletter at cat rescue shelter? I'm doing a newsletter for a cat rescue group, the newsletter is designed for kids, and we're having trouble coming up with names. So far we have "Cat Tails" and "Kitty Corner." Do you have any cool ideas to add to our list? We're trying to make it sound interesting. Nothing's too stupid; it's all appreciated. This newsletter is for ages 5-teen. I'm getting TONS of great ideas for the younger group, but some names might not appeal to teenagers. Any ideas? Oh, and thanks so much to the people who have already left names! They're so cute!
Is it possible 4 me to start a dog/cat rescue? My family and I have been wanting to do something to help out some of these animals in this world. We are thinking about starting up a dog/cat rescue. We already know where to get the supplies and everything for them. What do you all think about us starting one? Should it be a no-kill unless the animal is not adoptable or what kind? Please give us some advice!!!
How to become a licensed dog/cat rescue? Hi, I have been rescuing dogs and cats for years and am looking for information on becoming a licensed rescue because I would like to advsertise my animals on petfinder and be able to have legal adoption contract. If you have done this, could you give me the steps you went through to get your license, and what I need to do to get started? Thanks! I know I will have to contact legal people in my city, I was just wondering what order you went in? who did you contact? was it worthit to be licensed?what were the benefits?
How to help my rescue cat settle in better? I got a cat from a rescue centre yesterday. She is clearly terrified and hasn't come out from behind the washing machine yet! Well, she must have at some point because her food is going and she has used her litter tray.I know she has the potential to be a great cat,she was calm and affectionate at the shelter. I have done the basics like just leaving her alone and not hassling her but the poor thing is still cowering! No point trying to lure her out with a trail of dry food, she has no teeth. How long can I expect the transition period to last and how can I boost her confidence? There are no other pets in the house and the kids know to keep things calm and quiet.
Is there a Wild Dog Rescue like the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa? And I'm talking about a rescue center for wild canids, like Wolves, Coyotes, Foxes and other exotic dogs in the states. Just like the Big Cat Rescue over here in Tampa, FL which takes in abused, abandoned, and mistreated (wasn't tooken care of well, from exotic pet owners) wild cats.
Should we have a rescue cat or a kitten? I have just lost my beloved cat of nearly 18 years. My two children aged 7 and were brilliant with my old cat and miss her terribly. We want to get a new cat or maybe 2 cats. I am trying to decide whether to get a pair of rescue cats from a charity or two kittens. I have a friend whose cat is due to litter in the next few weeks. She has promised three already to family members. Do I wait and have a look at her kittens (or someone elses kittens) and hope I like them or adopt some rescue cats? My 7 year old said she would like to give an older cat a home but I also know she would adore a kitten. We will wait to the Summer school holiday to have kittens so we can be at home to care for them. I know of two rescue cats, used to children one of whom adores them, that need a home together. (I haven't seen the cats yet) Can you still bond with a rescue cat in the same way as one you have from a kitten and would the children be happy to have either as a pet? What should we do?
Why is my rescue cat losing fur and has diarrhoea? I adopted a rescue cat 3 days ago and she has been gradually losing all the fur under her neck (she is now quite bald!) She has also had some diarrhoea for the past 24hours. Should I be worried? I forgot to mention that the bald area is perfectly normal with no soreness etc and she is eating and drinking fine and she is eating and drinking fine
What do people mean when they refer to a cat as a "rescue"? I'm asking about the use of the word "rescue" as an adjective to describe the noun "cat" Just as you might use another adjective, for instance a color, like this "I have a gray cat. What is meant by the adjective "rescue", as in - "I adopted a rescue cat." or "All of my cats are rescue cats." or "You should adopt a rescue cat" What are the attributes that people associate with a "rescue" cat. When do you refer to a cat as a "rescue" cat?
Any ideas for good slogan for a cat rescue.? I specialize in TNR (trap-neuter-return) feral cats to help with the overpopulation of homeless cats. I rescue the tame ones and kittens to find them loving, forever new homes. Anything with spay/neuter would be good or don't litter. Should a new female rescue cat be kept away from the resident female cat? My Mum rescued a cat and her kittens 10 weeks ago. The kittens have lovely homes now and 'Tashi' has been spayed and she is going out in the garden. She was violent towards my Mum's cat until she got at her. They had a quick noisy argument and now they tolerate each other in the garden....just. Mum is keeping them apart in the house. I think this is the wrong thing to do! Any advice! Mum says that she doesn't think she will be able to keep Tashi if she coninues to be violent towards the older cat.
My Street Cat Rescue Website - What do you think of the changes? My Street Cat Rescue Website - What do you think of the changes? I recently started a Street Cat Rescue Website with live streaming video of kitties needing homes & asked what people thought of it. After, I made alot of changes, including taking streaming video off front page, and replaced it with a video clip of the kittens. My concern is that people might think the video playing on the front page is the live video and that I haven't made it obvious enough how to get to the live video/Streetcatcam. everyone, let me know what you think of the changes (or the site if you haven't seen it before). Thanks
Integrating a rescue cat into the family? We have two large dogs and have had a rescue cat for a week now. He's (understandably) scared of the dogs still, any ideas on how to get him used to them? We have just been being patient but can't allow the cat to go outside until we know he won't be scared to come back - he's getting pretty fed up of being cooped up now. To the second answerer - The cat has lived with dogs before, that's why we chose this one. There were plenty of others who also needed homes but had not lived with dogs. This as thought out, not a spur of the moment thing.
What should we name our dog/cat rescue? Hi! A couple of us are starting a dog/cat rescue in Orange County, California and we really need a great name! So far our favorite is Pets are Worth Saving Orange County Rescue (PAWS OC Rescue), but there are a TON of rescues already using PAWS in different variations. If anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome!
Was relinquishing my cat to a rescue organization the right thing? I had to return my cat to the rescue I got her from because my roommate was allergic and I was worried about placing her with a foster in fear it may stress her out. But now I hear that she is not adjusting well, and growls at other cats according to the rescue coordinator. Was she trying to make me feel guilty, or did I do a horrible thing?
Any cat rescue groups to volunteer for in Paris cemeteries? I plan on spending several weeks in Paris, France and would like to spend some time volunteering with any animal shelters or groups which work with the feral cat populations in the Paris cemeteries. I've looked online and can't find any organization that does this. Does anyone have any information on who takes care of these cats? (i.e. spay/neuter, vaccinate, etc.)
Do you like my street cat rescue website with streetcatcam? He is the only animal in our house and we keep the litter clean in a good sized pan with no lid. If I lock him in the room, he will use the box, but if I let him out, he will pee and poop in the wrong places. I dont know what to do and am getting really frustrated. Any suggestions?

I'm going to be taking in a rescue cat and I have two dogs? I'm a little nervous because one of my dogs, a german shepard, has a very strong prey-instinct and has always wanted to chase cats. She has never been socialized with a cat. My other dog, a small dog, has been learning from her, but I think he will be okay because he likes everyone. Any good advice on my first week with them all together? I did a web search and have basic steps, but I was wondering if anyone had been thru this and has some good advice? I'll be taking her home today.

I have to take my cat to a rescue center and feel horrible... Any advice to ease the guilt and pain? I am leaving my relationship of 4 years this sunday... We got 2 cats about 2 during the relationship. The first one we got almost 2 years ago and the second one we got about 6 months after we got the first one. Now that I am leaving, he is a little bitter. He has agreed to keep the first cat that we got, but not the second one. He says because he did not really want the second one and I did that I should be the one to take him. The only thing is that my mom is allergic to cats and I have to take him to a shelter I think. My dad has offered to let me keep him there but he has 4 other cats that have claws and they are putdoor cats, so they probably have fleas. Plus he does not keep them up to date with the vet, and some of them have gotten really sick in the last couple of years. My cat is a fat, declawed, happy indoor cat. He is afraid of his own shadow... literally!!! I am afraid that he will not like the other cats, and also I had planned all along to live with my mom. My dad smokes pot (which I dont agree with), his wife is a mooch, he lives in a small trailor and smokes cigerettes so it smells like smoke. He has no cabel and I am a student so I need the internet and I dont think that he would be willing to get it. I just never really got along with my dad and he thinks that because I asked him to keep my cat that I was going to be living there. He went out and got a bed and everything for me. I told him that I was not going to be there every night and he was like "so what are you going to do with the cat"... I told him that I would buy the food and the litter and I would give him some money to watch him. His wife does not work and they already have 4 cats... what is one more? My cat does not even go outside so they dont have to worry about him not coming home... I just feel like if I keep my cat there I will be forced to live there, which I absolutly do not want to do. I have literally begged my soon to be ex to keep him b/c him and his sister are very close and I know they will miss each other. But he is not going to keep him. He could care less what happens to him.It will be very traumatic for him to drive 10 hrs with me to be dropped in a place that he is not familiar with... then to be around other cats??? I worry that he will be stressed out and I will have to take him to a cat rescue. I am just guilt stricken and feel so bad that I have to do this to my cat. He is just so sweet and nice and he is so smart... he is the best cat or animal that I could have asked for and now I am not only breaking up with my boyfriend but I have to seperate my cats because I absolutly cannot have both... Are the rescue centers nice? Do they treat the cats well? Am I able to visit him if I want if he is not adopted out? Am I able to take him back if he is not adopted out, assuming that I get on my feet again soon?
Why is my 4 year old rescue cat allways crying for food? Her health checks out fine. I have her on a mixture of Hills M/D and R/D, the amount was calculated by my vet. I feed her little bits at a time. In the morning before I leave and through out the evening. Poor thing is driving me crazy.
What do cat rescue groups do if they run out of space? I know some animal shelters euthanize their animals if they need the room and if it's not a no-kill shelter. What about rescue groups for cats? What if they run out of room, then what? I hear they don't euthanize at all.

Does anyone know a cat rescue for my Deaf cat? I have an all white, blue eyed beautiful 3 years old cat that is deaf. I live in Kentucky and can't find a place to take her that isn't a pound. I used to live in Cali and there were a lot of "no cage" rescues but I'm having trouble finding one local. Our dog picks on her too much and with my son running around I don't have the time to love her the way I should. Any suggestions or anyone interested in adopting her?
How many firefighters does it take to rescue a cat from a roof? "HEALTH and safety regulations meant more than 20 firefighters were called to rescue a cat from the roof of a two-storey house in North Suffolk." http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/bonkers_more_than_20_suffolk_firefighters_rescue_cat_from_tree_1_854585 "Last night, the fire service’s response was criticised as “ridiculous” and a waste of taxpayers’ money."
is it normal for a rescue cat to love on resident dog as soon as they met? We adopted a cat a couple weeks ago and when we got him home he acted like he had always lived with our family and even rubbed on the dog like they were old friends. Our 11yr old sib acted dumb founded it was funny. She was used to my mils cat that was old and was a cats cat hissing and scratching and all that. Who'd thunk a shelter cat would changed the old dogs mind. Thanks for the answers.
Anybody know a cat rescue to take in cats in Southern California? My cat had kitties before we could fix her (figures right!). Anyway, we have been looking for homes for them and found a few homes but we still have some left and they are almost full grown now and nobody wants them. I have posted ads with no luck. I do not want to send them to the pound for I know they will put them down for they have too many cats as it is. Anybody know a cat rescue in the Southern California area that will take them in?
How do I rescue an abandoned cat left outside of my apartments? There is this cat that is ALWAYS outside day or night. I feel so bad for it, it seems hungry and weaker by the day. How do I rescue it? Do I call animal control? I DON'T KNOW IF THE OWNER IS FEEDING IT OR WHATEVER THEY ARE. I live in Florida, who could I call? Thanks.
