Cat adoption? On march 29th the human society in my area is having a microchip fare and an adoption day. I was going to bring my cat over there to get microchipped and to pick out a new friend. Should I get another female or a male? I also would like to find one who will ruff her up.... my cat is to prissy and mean. She needs to learn that there are bigger meaner things out there.... so any specific breed or age?

Is it better to euthanize or give a cat up for adoption? My one year old son seems to be allergic to my two cats. We have a heppa filter in his room but the rest of the house seems to give him a rash, runny nose and itchy eyes. Both cats are about 10 years old and aren't in the best health either... Cat adoption at a distance, for holidays? I'm flying out to California on Dec 19 to see my mom. She wants a cat or kitten for Christmas and I am sure she does not want to face the rush at the shelter or pet store. She's sixty-seven and a major homebody. Short of hiring a stranger to run out cat shopping, what do you think is the best way to find her a cat before the holiday? I'm afraid to adopt a cat sight-unseen from a private party and I would rather not support a pet store. Besides I am pretty sure that the market for pets will be pretty tight by the 19th (we are celebrating on the 22nd so I want to get an animal by then) So do you know anyone in the San Jose area who'll have kittens or cats up for adoption around then? We need to put our cat up for adoption or place her somewhere...? Well, we have to move into an apartment and we can't keep her. Cat adoption and landlord PIA's-is there any way to have someone else "adopt"? Okay, I come here with hope that someone can help my sister-in-law and brother give a good home to a 4 year-old cat from the SPCA in North Carolina. They moved into their apartment maybe 4 years ago or so with 2 cats and a dog (3 animals) and a couple of years ago, the dog became sick and they had to put her down. That brought them down to 2 pets total. Now, they have fallen in love with a 4-year old cat at the SPCA, and were ready to bring him home and take excellent care of him, but were told at the last minute the apartment complex "must have changed the lease" and they no longer allow more than 2 pets max. My SIL is heart-broken, because she knows that older cats are not as easily adoptable as kittens, and did everything to prove to the SPCA that her other two cats had all their shots, etc. just to find out the landlord has supposedly changed the pet clause in the lease. It sucks, because I know this cat would have a good home and be well cared for.... So, I was wondering if there is anyone who has any knowledge of a group that helps people and cats in this position. Obviously, it appears we are trying to get around the "rules", but it just sucks because you know this cat probably would not be adopted (he's been there three months already!) and I know that my brother and sister-in-law would be awesome pet parents. I know why the SPCA is so picky with who they let adopt, but in this case, the "rules" are really benefiting no one. This cat would live indoors in a huge 3-bedroom apartment with two loving "pet parents" and two big "sisters" who are very easy going and would probably get along with him no problem..... Sorry for such the long question with all the details, but I am just so heartbroken to see my SIL so heartbroken, and to see this cat probably have to be put to sleep and NOT because no one wants him. Is there ANY way around the SPCA's guidelines, or any special circumstances that will change the landlord's mind? It is an apartment complex, my brother and SIL are VERY good and loving people and are huge animal lovers, so it just really is upsetting to see the "system" work against people like them. Any suggestions? I guess I was "lucky". I have 4 indoor cats, and they were all rescues. My husband and I own our townhouse, and really never had to go through any of these rules (except for my first cat who I adopted at the SPCA and my landlord wrote a letter saying he allowed it) and I always say that if I am ever to be re-incarnated, I want to come back as one of MY cats. Indoor, well fed, and lots of love and clean litterboxes! Oh, and we all don't believe in de-clawing. None of my cats are, and none of theirs were or will be. I'm sure their landlord probably has been screwed in the past with pet damage and irresponsible pet owners. The lease issue is interesting....I spoke to my brother, and he doesn't feel like the leasing office was being too honest with him. But what happened is the SPCA called the landlord/leasing office this morning and notified my brother and SIL that they would not be allowed to adopt the cat now. I'm thinking that this lease "change" needs to be investigated a bit more, good point. I just wish I could go down there and "catnap" the cat for them, I feel so helpless. Also, I am assuming that the shelter is a "kill shelter" because it doesn't advertise on its website it is "no kill". And in my experience, no kill shelters like to advertise that, it makes them seem more humane or what have you. So, I am assuming that part based on experience. Thanks for your answers!

recent feral cat adoption question? i moved into my new home which I ran into some feral cats. Long story short, mother who i felt sorry for, started to feed everyday, had a litter of kittens, and i quickly was feeding 4 cats/kittens. Soon they grew up and i got scared I was harboring a large catery performed TNR(Trap Nueter Release) on the group.One of the cats, the runt of the litter, really pulled on my heart strings and I decided to keep inside, which i fell she is very grateful (she sleeps with me and my other two cats everynight on my bed and seems content My question is, every once in a while my recent adoption(its been 8 weeks) will look outside and see her mother and the rest of her litter mates eating the food i provide them and start meowing.ive felt really bad like she misses them and have even open the door for her, but she prefers to stay indoors. Did i make the wrong decision by adopting a feral cat and keeping her inside with me? Or should i slightly push her outside with her old family? prefer not to Please know that "shayla" the cat at question has been spayed and has had her shots , took her back to the vet after TNR(other outside cats have also been spayed, hence TNR and have have some vaccinations with TNR)
Why would a cat lose weight due to the adoption of another kitten? I rescued a long haired gray tabby kitten from the gas chamber and brought it home. One of my other two cats lost 4 pounds almost immediately. and still won't have anything to do with the adopted one and its been over a year. He never gained his weight back. Cat adoption... advice please...? A stray cat had 5 kittens at our house back in March. I've grown really close to all of them and they really seem like normal pets to me. I love them all very very very much and spend lots of time with them every day. One of the kittens has a couple of people interested in adopting her... Animal shelter cat adoption question? I volentere at the animal shelter in town and the last time we had a cat adoption was almost 4 months ago. We have several cats who have been at the shelter for almost 2 years and we are trying to think of ways to get them adopted. We have put up signs around the town, set up a facebook acount, and have gone to local fairs and such but our cats just aren't getting adopted. We live in a tiny town of 3-4,000 people. Any ideas are welcome.
cat adoption being sought for great guy? I have a male tabby with a fractured pelvis that I have been trying to help heal and he can't be nuetered until next month. He is all but deaf. Is it mean to seek adoption of a declawed cat? I am thinking of owning a cat... I would NEVER declaw a cat but I do worry a lot about the furniture in the house. I wondered if I adopted one if I could look specifically for one that already was declawed? I feel like a bad person even though I wasn't the one to declaw the poor thing! Really, am I just as bad?
