Cat???????? My cat, who is also my baby and has been my little baby ever since he was born. He keeps attacking one of my other cats and leaving wounds on her. I love my cat a lot and he wont stop hurting her. How do i keep him from attacking her without getting rid of either of then or hurting him?
How do Cats and Dogs know which is cat food and which is dog food? I have 2 cats and three dogs. One night, I ran out of cat food (the dry type) and my cats were hungry. So since I had dog food only and the shops were closed, I gave them dog kibbles. They're more or less of the same shape and size and are made of the same ingredients - chicken. My cats took a nibble and refused the rest of the bowl, preferring to go hungry than eat dog food. The next day, i got them a fresh pack of made-for-cats kibbles and they immediately dived in and ate up. How come my cats knew what I gave them wasn't cat food? I also know of dogs that won't eat cat food for the long run (not mine though, cos they're pigs and will eat anything). It would be good if a pet food manufacturer can answer this question. Is there some special ingredient you put in cat and dog food that makes cats and dogs know which kibbles is who's? Also, nowadays, dogs are eating fish too - like salmon. You can't say it's the ingredient. How come they know the difference?
How do I get my cat to eat wet cat food instead of dry cat food? I have heard that dry cat food is bad for your cats health. My cat loves dry cat food and only eats a small amount of the wet cat food. I used to give her dry food in the mornings but now I have started to give her wet cat food as that would be the time when she is the most hungry. This morning she woke me up meowing becuase she was hungry and I fed her one of those small tins of cat food and she only ate half. An hour later she still didn't finish it. I gave her a small pile of dry cat food and she ran straight over and ate it. I don't think it is enough food for her to be eating only one small tin of cat food a day (half in the morning, half at night). She is already small and although her weight is okay, she really doesn't need to be any thinner.
What is the best cat litter to use that takes away the smell? I am taking care of my friends 2 year old female cat. I am not a cat person so I truly have no idea what I'm doing. Right now I am using his 'Purina Tidy Cat for Multiple Cats' cat litter. The cat litter itself actually smells good but this cat takes the WORST dumps! Any better Cat Litter I can use? Also all the cat eats is regular Meow Mix and it's not eating table scraps meaning its poo naturally just smells that bad.
Are some cats never able to tolerate a second cat in the home? I have tried twice to bring a second cat into the home. My 9 year old cat, Katy will become depressed and urinate on shoes and throw rugs every time. I end up finding a home for the second cat and after a week or so Katy returns to her old self, using litter box and wanting affection. My question is, are there some cats that will never tolerate another cat in the home?
How do you train a cat to use a cat flap? I've had my cat for ages now. She's never used a cat flap before and we're thinking of getting her one. How do you train a cat to use a cat flap? By the way, my cat's like 8 or 9 years old. Does it make any difference to what age the cat is when you train her to use a cat flap? Thanks in advance!
What cat food is best for a cat that vomits everything she eats? We adopted a cat that was a stray. I bought her some cheap dry cat food. After a week she started throwing it up and won't eat it any more. She will eat soft cat food but is still throwing up. What should I feed her? I tried mixing rice in her soft food but that didn't work.
How do I stop other cats using my cat's catflap? I have a timid female cat and recently put a cat flap in. Unfortunately other cats are now coming in. I have chased cats out and they haven't come back, but one cat in particular just will not get the hint. I once even cornered him and poured a jug of water on him but he's been back. Are there any tried and tested (humane!) ways of getting rid of the unwanted cats?
How do you introduce 1 adult cat to a home that already has 2 adult cats? I just moved into a home with my adult cat - the home already has two adult cats. The two cats and my cat are not getting along and are hissing and growling at eachother all the time. The two cats don't like my cat and my cat doesn't like them. Will they ever get along, will they learn to live with eachother? Is it safe to let them roam free while i'm out or should i separate them. Any tips or advice will be EXTREMELY appreciated.
How to bring a new cat into a house with existing cats? I have 4 cats and tonight I'm going to get another cat (not kitten) from a friend who can't keep the cat. Does anyone have good suggestions for getting the cats used to each other quickly? How can I convince my existing cats to get along with the new cat?
How can I tell if my cat is narcoleptic? My cat wants to sleep all the time. It will be pounching one minute and then lay down and go to sleep a few minutes later. All it wants to do is sleep. Sometimes while awake the cat will glare nervously at the ceiling fan. The cat will run from the room and hide if we turn the ceiling fan on, but will come back after it bas been running for a while. It will then leave if we shut it off and hide. The cat doesn't like other people and will stay in hiding if we have company until about a hour after everyone leaves. I often find the cat sleeping in wierd places (bottom of the stairs, infront of the door, on a window seat, under the bed next to the heater) and in wierd positions (on its side like a dog, on its back with all four paws in the air, etc). Sometimes the cat will sit and stare at the wall. Is my cat just being a cat or does it have some kind of mental disorder?
Why does my cat get so jealous of other cats? I have two cats. My girl hates the boy and hisses at him constantly. And she is always fighting with the cat upstairs. I have heard of cats who are friendly and cuddle with each other but I have never had a cat like that. Is my cat just a b*tch? She is very friendly with me.
What cat breed is generally the most friendly? I have two cats that I rescued from shelters (shorthair mix and siamese mix). I love them both to pieces, but they're both incredibly mean. They bite and scratch and hiss at everything and they HATE to be picked up. I'm thinking about getting another cat (like from a cat breeder this time) and I want to get a friendly cat that likes to be held. Any suggestions? No, I don't think that a cat has to come from a breeder to be friendly. I just wanted to try something different. I've met some cats from shelters that are really sweet.
How do I get my cat to loose weight, and the others to stay where they are? I have three cats. Two are brother and sister orange kitties and the other isn't related (she's black and white) . The one who is not related is really obese. The cats are half indoor half outdoor (they like to play outside for a few hours but stay inside most). The black and white cat doesn't really run or exercise a lot. if she's inside she will lay in one spot the entire day. We feed the cats in one room because sometimes one of them will be left outside and we don't want to forget to feed that one. The two orange cats will eat a little bit of their food and run off. The black and white cat will eat all of her food and then the other cats' leftovers. I'm not sure what I can do to help the overweight loose weight. The vet hasn't really reccomended anything.
How can my cat be pregnant when the only animal its around is my pet opossum? Could this be a sign of the end of times? Is it possible that my cats pregancy is mentione in revelations? Does it say anywhere in there anything about a strange birth from a cat? Also my cat is a virgin too so does that make the unborn kitten one of Gods litter? Please someone explain this to me? Is this Kitten here to atone for our sins? This kitten is born of a virgin cat unless the possum was able to get my cat preggy. MY CAT HAS NEVER BEEN OUTDOORS
Cat allergies, buying a home from pet owner, trying to clean the carpets? Does anybody have any recommendations on the best way to clean carpets that have been affected by cats? My fiancee is allergic to cats and we are buying a home from a cat owner. We want to have the place professionally cleaned but don't know the best cleaning service to get for this matter. Any recommendations?
How do you introduced a new cat to a excisting one? I currently have a 2 year old female cat. I have got a new 4 month old female cat today. How do I introduce them best? My current Cat does not go out side. She is an indoor cat. She has come into contact with other cats before (at old home she went outside) She just hissed at them and the other cat would tend to leave her alone. So what is the best way to introduce the new cat to Fluff?
What to do about cat not properly weaned? This is going to sound weird. I have an 8 month old female cat who keeps "sucking" on a 4 year old neutered MALE cat. The older cat seems as though he is in pain after the "nursing" has subsided. I'm concerned that this may also mean that the younger cat has severe mental problems. I'm assuming that this behavior is an effect of the cat not being properly weaned. What can I do, or does anyone suggest something that can be put on the older cat's nipples to stop this from recurring?
How can I test if my Male cat would like a female friend? My cat loves people but I work 40 hours a week and would like to get him a friend. I'm pretty sure he hates all Male cats. When the Neighbors male cat comes to the sliding glass door my cat attacks the glass trying to get at the other cat. But I think he might be ok and even like a Female cat. But how do I test this? I would hate to have to take a cat back to the pound. I got him from the humane society at 5 years old, declawed in front. For all I know he has always been an only cat and likes it that way. But I feel bad when he is home alone. Yes I would only get another declawed cat. Already declawed that is. I would not have that done to a cat but if I can find one that needs a home then thats great. Yes he is fixed and any cat I would get would be fixed as well.
What cat will be best to get when I already have a cat? I can get a cat. But I need help. I need to find a cat that will be best for the cat I already have. My cat I have now is 16 months old, indoor cat, no cat buddies yet, male, and fixed. Which cat would he best get along with and what would just be a good match? Cat or Kitten? Male or female? Indoor or outdoor? Help! My cat I also got from the pound. He got along with those cats fine!
I'm thinking of getting a cat. How can I avoid stinky cat smell and scratched up sofas? I have seen two mice in my apt over the past week. I'm thinking of getting a cat to help with the problem. My friend has a cat and her house always reeks of stinky litter box and cat hairs all over the furniture. Also I have leather sofas. I do not want the cat to scratch p my furniture. How can I get a cat and not have to deal with more problems than I already have. Also I worry about cat food possibly attracting more vermin. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
How often at a shelter do you find a cat without cat flu? Mum says she would never adopt a cat with cat flu? Most cats at the shelter would have cat flu if I'm not mistaken as they spend heaps of time with other cats, epecially when there with penned with 7 other different cats It would be virtually impossible to find a shelter cat the didn't have cat flu? Right or Wrong? Cats are vacciented at our shelters for cat flu and other disease, but although does reduce the chances of a cat getting sick, does not guarantee the cat will not get sick.
How do I get my cat to stop killing birds? I have a cat that keeps getting outside even though we try not to let her out. The problem is that our cat likes to hunt birds. We have two cats and our outdoor cat is fine. But our indoor cat seems to feel she has to leave presents for us at our front doorstep. This morning, I had to dispose of 3 more dead birds. With my work schedule, I'm not home much, and I'm sick and tired of cleaning up dead birds on my front doorstep. She doesn't even eat them, she's just killing them! Anyone else get their cat to stop this behavior? When you have your hands full of items when you go in and out of the house, it's not always possible to grab a small cat that can run between your legs.
How can I add a cat to a family of five dogs? We have five outside dogs, and want an inside/outside cat. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get a new cat used to five dogs? Should we get an adult cat or kitten? For any of you who have both cats and dogs, what is the cat to dog ratio and how did you make it work without the dogs killing the cat?
How much food does a cat need to eat in one day? I know all cats are different. But I have just adopted another cat. He is absolutely gorgous. I have another cat too. My other cat eats about 5 pouches of food a day with some biscuits sprinkled on top, so I am feeding my new cat the same too. But my new cat just want's to eat all the time. Do you think I should feed him any more than I am already feeding him. Or is he just a bit greedy? Thank you all so much.

How long can a cat survive without treatment? A cat that belongs to someone I know is exhibiting all the signs of a urinary tract infection (blood in urine, straining to go, going outside the box, etc.) and obviously needs to be seen by a vet. However, the cat's owner doesn't have the time or the money to take the cat to the vet immediately. They are planning on doing it "some time" next week. 1. How long can a cat go without treatment? 2. Should I just take the cat to the vet myself and pay for treatment? It is a male cat, 4 years old, and he's been experiencing the symptoms for almost 3 days.
I recently purchased a cat from Russia and have been having problems? I bought a cat from Russia and now I am having a communication problem. I guess it only speaks Russian because whenever I ask it if its hungry it doesn't reply. I asked my other cats to talk to it but they don't know Russian either. Does anybody know where I can find local Russian cat translators? I don't know what this cat needs and the language barrier is putting distress throughout my family of cats. I am a 23 year old dude with a cat family and nobody seems to take this problem seriously. This language barrier is causing turmoil within my kitty family.
What cat food is good for indoor senior cat with a sensitive stomach? My cat, who is 18 years old, has recently developed quite the sensitive stomach. He has an upset tummy nearly every day, & I think it's probably his food. I'm trying to find one that fits all 3 qualifications, but I can't seem to find a cat food for senior and sensitive stomach. He's been eating Iams indoor senior formula, and I'm considering switching him to Nutro Senior, because it says it's easy to digest. Has anyone else used Nutro, or have any suggestions for a good brand of senior sensitive stomach food?
What would cause a cat to develop bumps on their skin? My black cat, Shadow (6years) has recently developed these itchy bumps all over his body. I know it is not fleas. My other cat, Shmokey (9 years) doesn't have a thing wrong with his skin. I have given Shadow a few baths in some really good shampoo for cats. The bumps always heal, but new ones appear soon after. I recently bought this cube like structure designed for cats. My guess is that he is perhaps allergic to the material. He is the only cat that sleeps in it. Any ideas what it could be?
How can you get a cat do get along with a dog? I got a new cat today and he is 2 years old. And I have a 5 year old dog. The dog has been around cats a lot but we haven't had a cat in like 4 months but at first the dog chased the cat. Well the cat has never ever been around dogs so how can I make them be more friendly with out them killing each other?
What precautions should I take before getting a 3rd cat? I have 2 healthy indoor cats. I want to get a 3rd cat from a shelter. 1. Which vaccinations should I give my current cats before getting the new cat? 2. How long should I wait after vaccinating my current cats before getting the new cat? 3. Should I test the cat TWICE for feline leukemia before I introduce it to my other cats? Or is ONE test good enough? I ask because if the new cat recently caught leukemia, it will not show up on the test yet.
What gender would my female cat get along with best? I am looking into bringing a new cat into my home soon. I have a female cat though, she's 2 1/2. I got her when she was about 5 months, and up until then she had lived with other cats. She is an outdoor cat and plays with other cats when she's not home, but as soon as they get close to the home, she becomes very territorial, which females tend to do. Would she be more welcoming to a male cat?
Can old cats eventually get used to a cat flap? We had to get new glass fitted in our back door. At the same time we got the man to fit a cat flap. My cats are terrified of the thing having not had to use one before. How can I get them used to it. I've tried the trick of enticing them with a treat, but that don't work. Anyone got any other ideas? Thanks everyone. You've all been very helpful.
How do you keep a cat from attacking a puppy? I have a 5 and a half week old puppy, a 3 year old dog and a year old cat. The older dog and the cat get along OK but the cat wants to "play" with the puppy by attacking her. He grabs her and kicks with his back claws. We had his front claws taken out (He is strictly an indoor cat, I am allergic to his claws), but the vet refused to remove the back claws. I have been scolding the cat for playing with the puppy this way and the puppy even does her little growl at him. Does any one have any suggestions?
What are some good warrior cat names for a cat that is white with ginger patches ? Oh yeah and also a black and white cat. Oh yes and extra credit for anyone who can think of any for a cream colored cat. I just got my cats, and i know I already asked for warriors names but None of them fit these cats. WHAT I MEAN BY WARRIOR NAMES ARE WARRIOR NAMES FROM THE ERIN HUNTER SERIES. The ginger and white is a she-cat the black and white is a tom, and the cream is a she cat.
How can I stop a cat hanging around? and how can I treat a bite from a cat? My cat has recently been ganged up on by another cat in my area. He is constantly around our house starting fights with her. She's a small cat and she's had a few nasty bites these last few months. Usually after she gets bitten there's a $300 vet bill to pay... What could I do to stop this other cat hanging around? Or if there's nothing I can do, what kind of antiseptic cream could I put on the bite to stop it getting infected (that wont hurt her if she licks it off)? I've been told she may be on heat, but this fighting has got to stop. My cat has recently been ganged up on by another cat in my area. He is constantly around our house starting fights with her. I've been told she may be on heat, but this fighting has got to stop. 1. She has been spayed. 2. The male cat is not feral, he belongs to a nice lady down the road 3. This cat is NOT an inside cat. No way, not ever. You try having her in for one night. She has a cat door to wander in and out downstairs but the other cat has learnt to follow her in. I'm not keeping her inside. At all. Not an option. She's psycho at night.
How do i know a cat is pregnant and how do i catch that cat? Around a couple weeks ago i went out to my backyard and found my male cat bagging another female cat (I hope :D). What are some cat breeds that get along well with other pets? I am getting a kitten in a few months, but I want one that won't be miserable with my other animals. I have a hyper Sheltie dog, and a Calico x Tabby cat (she's smaller). I'd like a cat (preferably male, and that makes a bit of a difference because some males don't get along well with other cats) that can get along well with other animals, one that won't mind a hyper dog or another cat. Any suggestions? Thank you in advanced.
How many cat treats should I give my cat each day? My cat Chili is 5 yrs old. She really likes temptations cat treats. They are really bite sized, and I give her about 6 to 10 in total throughout the day. The instructions say give them a treat "anytime", which does not tell you how many is too much in one day.
How do I get my cat to drop weight and stop begging for food? I recently moved from an apartment where my cat had another cat friend to play with. I would feed my cat one bowl in the morning and the other cat got feed at midnight and was fed an obscene amount of food. So now my cat bangs on my door and cries all night long to be fed. She probably weighs 19-20 pounds. I need to get her weight down and for her to stop begging. She will lay by her bowl and meow and chase you around the house. I dont give in, I still feed her in the morning, but I am now losing sleep because of it. Any Suggestions? I just started feeding her all organic food. So I am hoping that will help. I give her a 1/4 of a cup of food at 630am. From the replies (that are all great) Im thinking that at dinner i should give her another 1/4 cup. In response to the green beans... how does her digestion react to suddenly getting fed human food? And do you think any of the crying has to do with suddenly being the only cat in the house... Do cats have enough memory to realize her other cat friend is not around? Yes I am and have only ever fed her dry food. I thought that the wet food was more fattening. She has not been to the vet in two years, should i schedule an appointment for her to get a check up?
If a cat develops upper respiratory infection, can it be transmitted to other cats? We have like 3 or 4 generations of wild cats outside. Two of them began to sneeze and had watery eyes. They would still eat and drink water, and seemed to be getting better when suddenly the mother cat and another sibling had the symptoms. Now just today, the uncle came around and he's got it. If this is respiratory infection, can it be passed from one cat to another?
What cat breed possesses the following personality? Most cats avoid strangers and aren't much of lap cats, one of those cats is my favorite Egyptian Mau. The only cat i know to be very social, loving and loyal is the Savannah but its illegal in NYC. What cat diet is best for a multiple cat home? So I have two cats, one is morbidly obese, and the other one is where he should be weight wise. I tried a weight management cat food and instead of the cat that's overweight losing weight, the cat that's where he should be has started to lose weight. I started to give him some wet food as well to keep him from losing weight but the overweight cat still isn't losing any weight. Is there anything I can do?
What type of cat gets adopted the least and what cat gets adopted the least? Assuming all cats are the same age, what type of cat gets adopted the most and which kind of cat gets adopted the least. I heard that black cats get adopted the least due to a bad rep, while white cats get adopted the most. What types of cats do you usually get and why? What is one type of cat you will never adopt and why? I personally love black cats the most, but I don't think I would get a purebread cat(they always get adopted).
How to get a male stray cat to get along with our indoor domestic cats? Hi. We have 3 male cats that we have raised since kittens and are indoor domestic cats. We recently rescued a stray cat that is between 1-2 years old and just got him neutered the day before Christmas Eve. He is attacking our other cats by chasing, biting an scratching them very bad and he is being confined. Will this behavior change now that he's been fixed? I don't want to give up and have to find him another home because he is so loveable toward humans, but won't leave our other cats alone at all and it is very upsetting to all. Thanks.
How do you stop the neighbours cat from coming in to our house and stealing our cats food? We have 2 cats, one of them will wear a collar and the other will not. They are pefectly happy until one of our neighbours cats comes around. It's a big old monster of a black and white cat that bullies it's way in and steals all of our cats food. It also likes to just sit around the garden and intimidate our cats to. The smaller of our cats has now started, we think through stress, to lose hair on her back. We need to get rid of this pest. Can anyone help
What cat food is good for sensitive stomaches? My older cat who is 10 has had a sensitive stomach since she was young. My younger cat is very picky and does not like a lot of cat food made for sensitive stomachs. What cat food is there that would be easy on my older cats tummy and taste better for my younger cat?
How would I introduce a new cat to my current cats that would be younger than the new cat? My question is basically this : I have two young cats. I would like to adopt a cat that is older than my current cats by one year. All questions about cat introductions that I found here have asked how to introduce a new kitten to an older cat that the person already owns, but never adding an older cat to a young cat household. How would that effect the peking order in the house?
What kind of cat treat to cats normally like the most? I want to buy cat treats for my one very picky cat. I have 3 cats, 2 of them love Temptation cat treats, but the third one will not eat them at all! I have tried many different flavors of it, and he will come running when i shake the bag as if he wants one, but when i put the treat down, he smells it, looks at me and walks away. Then my other cats eat his treats. Why do you think he does this, and what kind of treat could i try for him so he will possibly eat it?
How should we introduce our cat to the other cat that just had kittens? Our cat had her kittens two days ago, and our other cat is hanging around outside the room. It's a tough situation as the mother cat is in the room, and the other cat is used to being in the same room, but since the babies have been here I haven't let her come in. They're both females, the other one a few months younger than the mom cat.
